About Tugas Toe Bean Cattery

Our Story

We are a small family-owned breeder specializing in Maine Coons. We started breeding dogs 20 years ago when we turned our love towards Maine Coons in 2020. I attempted getting two Maine Coons because we wanted to share the joy and love that these amazing animals bring to our lives. Unfortunately that journey got cut short when our selected cats were received ill and could not pass a health clearance. We waited until 2024 to import healthy Maine Coons from the Ukraine from health tested parents. I decided to name our cattery what makes sense to us. Tugas is a Portuguese slang word for a Portuguese person, which I am 100% Portuguese. Then I decided on ToeBean because I may expand to include Ragdolls in a few years.

Our Philosophy

At Tugas Toe Bean Cattery, we believe in responsible breeding practices that prioritize the health and well-being of our cats. We DNA and do echocardiograms annually on all cats. We will be adding hip X-rays to our health testing requirements in 2026. We will be starting to use the PawPeds database to download all health testing, pedigrees and titles. We are committed to producing happy and healthy kittens that will make great pets for families and individuals alike.

Our home setting is to provide the best possible environment for our cats. We have a spacious cat room, outdoor play area, and plenty of room for our cats

to run and play.

What health testing do you perform on your breeding cats?

We perform health testing on all of our breeding cats with Wisdom Panel using a comprehensive panel tailored for Maine Coons and cats in general. All our kittens are also FIV/FELV negative and free from fleas, ticks and internal parasites.

What kind of socialization do your kittens receive?

Our kittens are raised in our home and receive daily socialization with people, dogs and other cats.

What kind of diet do you feed your kittens?

Our kittens are fed a high quality protein based food. It is formulated for all life stages and we feed Birdie and Louie.

What is your pricing?

Our kittens are sold as pets only. At this present time we are not offering breeding rights. Pet prices are $3000 regardless of the gender or color. There is a $250 non-refundable deposit to reserve the kitten of your choice.

What age do you recommend spaying and neutering?

Our kittens are sold as pets only. At this present time we are not offering breeding rights. All pets will be spayed or neutered before leaving our care. Our trusted vet performs these procedures safely at 12 weeks old and if they weigh at least three pounds. Males tend to heal faster then females. They may go home once they are healed and cleared by the vet from their procedures.

What vaccines do the kittens come home with?

Our kittens are vaccinated with 2-3 rounds of FVRCP and one rabies vaccine by the time they go home. Core vaccines for kittens include feline rhinotracheitis, calicivirus, and panleukopenia, three highly contagious and life-threatening illnesses in cats.

What preventatives will kittens be given?

Our kittens are dewormed every two weeks starting three weeks of life for prevention and treatment of common parasites like tapeworm, roundworm, hookworm, coccidia and giardia. We send out stool for a full PCR panel to make sure kittens are free of parasites. It is the buyers responsibly to make sure they are dewormed regularly by their vet.

Are the kittens microchipped?

Our kittens are microchipped and the chip is registered and fully paid for by Tugas ToeBean Cattery. Please keep your contact information updated with our cattery incase your kitten ends up being found. In the event that you fail to update your contact information with us and you are not reachable, I will attempt to find you via social media and google. If you are still not reachable, we will hold the cat for the legal duration of time before it becomes property of Tugas ToeBean Cattery.

Do you offer delivery?

Our kittens are hand delivered in a public location like a police station. We also offer door to door delivery. In the past I have travelled within states and Canada to complete deliveries. Any location that is not reachable within a day of travel, we do use American Airlines Pet Cargo services. We also are able to meet at airports if needed within the USA, Canada or Internationally. Where ever you live we can make the delivery happen. We do pass the cost of flights and pet cargo costs to our customers. We do charge minimally for door to door services depending on the distance. Any distance less then two hours from Seekonk, Massachusetts, will be a courtesy from our cattery.

Are kittens registered?

Our kittens leave fully registered and paid for by Tugas ToeBean Cattery. They will leave with their TICA pedigree and registration. All our cats are also FIFE and WCF registered. In the event you prefer to have your kitten registered with FIFE or WCF, the cost of doing so will be passed to the buyer. TICA is internationally recognized.

Do you offer pet insurance?

We are partnered with Trupanion to be able to give you insurance the minute you receive your kitten. This is a 30 day policy at no cost to you during that time. Trupanion covers 90% of the vet bill and there is no deductible or waiting period. It does not cover exam fees or routine vaccines. Please look over the coverage carefully once you receive it. We are not responsible for veterinary expenses once the kitten is received. We recommend keeping the policy for any accidents or illness that may arise.

Do you offer a health guarantee?

Our kittens come with a 12 month health guarantee on any genetic defect that would cause death. It does cover HCM and FIP for 24 months from the date of sale. FIP is treatable and in order for Tugas ToeBean Cattery to cover it, the treatment has to be provided in its entirety. In the event the kitten passes away from FIP even with treatment, we will replace the kitten with another one. We provide Trupanion free for the first 30 days of going home. It is recommended that you continue to keep the coverage. Trupanion covers 90% of the vet bill and there is no deductible or waiting period. It does not cover exam fees or routine vaccines. Please look over the coverage carefully once you receive it. We are not responsible for veterinary expenses once the kitten is received. Kitten needs to be checked by a licensed vet within 72 hours of going home. Any findings from your vet needs to be reported immediately to Tugas ToeBean Cattery. We require to see the vet reports with any findings noted. We do not cover parasites, injuries and preventable illnesses.

Can I visit in person to pick out a kitten?

All reputable breeders have a closed cattery policy in order to protect the health and lives of their cats, kittens and human families. I do lives frequently, take pictures and offer Face Time. Under no circumstances will I allow a visit.

What supplies will I need for my kitten?

Tugas ToeBean Cattery will provide each kitten with a litterbox suitable for a kitten. We provide two small bags of Birdie and Louie dry food and a few cans of cat food. This food is for all life stages and there is no need to switch food at any point of the kittens life. Switching foods too often or suddenly can cause GI upset. We recommend keeping the kitten on this food for the first year. We are also providing each kitten a fabric carrier to ensure kittens arrive safely from our cattery to your home and for their first vet visit. We will send home a toy scented from our cattery. Buyer will be responsible to get litter, feeding dishes and anything else you may want or need for your family addition.

What payment methods are excepeted?

Tugas ToeBean Cattery will accept the following payments: Bank to Bank Payments(Bank Wire), Zelle, Cash App, Apple Pay, Venmo, Debit and Credit Cards(fee paid by buyer). Deposits can also be paid with personal or bank certified checks and money orders. Any final payments in checks of any kind and money orders must be received 7 business days prior to pick up to ensure clearance of funds. Checks and Money orders will not be accepted at pick up.
